In July, we hosted the Rutland Live Fire Test Experience 2025 at Warringtonfire Birchwood.
We were joined by councils, housing associations and contractors to experience first-hand a real fire test. It was a truly sensory experience — fire is relentless, which is why fire doors, and their hardware must be rigorously tested for compliance.
This event was a pivotal moment in our commitment to driving enhanced compliance and performance at every door. Watch the video below for a summary of the event:
We demonstrated the shocking difference when comparing side by side a compliant and non-compliant doorset. It was a demonstration that door hardware’s compliance and performance rely equally on correct specification and conscientious installation.
Fire is relentless — Attendees felt the intense heat, smelled the smoke, and saw the shocking result that 30 minutes of continuous flames and takes on one side of a fire door.
Compliance is key — Correct specification is hugely important, and correct installation is vital. Correctly installed fire doors really can be the difference between life and death.
All doors should be safe and easy-to-use — Equipped with the right door hardware specification and installation knowledge, it’s possible to install compliant, performing doors.
“It’s been another brilliant training event and networking session. There’s something about a live fire test that you can’t really get from watching a video. People often say it helps them understand the ‘Why’ – why approved glazing systems are essential; why missing intumescent frame seals should be rectified; why fire rated letterplates are critical.”
