We established Rutland Academy to provide detailed training sessions on how to confidently install and maintain door controls. Fitted correctly, door closers and associated hardware have the potential to preserve life safety in the event of a fire. And day-to-day, they shouldn’t impede the experience of users, but too often this isn’t the case.
One of our key values here at Rutland is sharing our knowledge and expertise as part of our mission to enhance compliance and performance at every door. Our Rutland Academy training sessions provide an in-depth understanding of how fire door hardware should be installed and configured. The training courses cover various types of door closer to suit a range of scenarios, as well as practical advice on safely adjusting door hardware to overcome common problems which prevent safe and reliable door closure.
We offer two types of training sessions:
Theory training: Our theory course is a 1-hour virtual session involving a deep dive into what makes a door closer compliant, covering testing, legislation, and troubleshooting.
Practical training: Our 3-hour hands-on training course includes the theory training, followed by a detailed hands-on training session covering practical installation and adjustment.
Rutland Academy training is ideal for:
Contractors: The courses are beneficial for new installers, as well as those looking to refresh their knowledge. You’ll leave with an in-depth understanding of door controls.
Councils and Housing Associations: Designed for anyone with involvement in inspecting and/or maintaining door controls, from fire safety managers to department heads.
Why choose Rutland Academy training?
Tailored to your requirements: Our bespoke sessions are tailored to address your specific challenges — whether it’s a particular type of door closer, support around project specification, or general skill advancement.
Boost compliance and minimise headaches: Our in-depth training gives you the tools you need to ensure your projects meet the highest standards, reducing costly errors and delays.
Attendees will emerge with a strong grasp of the technicalities of operation for successful door controls, and regularly report improved installation efficiency, enhanced tenant satisfaction, and a reduction in complaints, after attending our courses.
